As one of the most historic spots in the Mediterranean, Valletta is a fantastic place to visit, explore and discover. Now a cosmopolitan city with umpteen great cafes, restaurants and boutiques, Valletta started life during the rule of the Knights of St John. In fact, it is named after Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valette, who succeeded in defending the island from an Ottoman invasion in the Great Siege of 1565.

Valletta’s Baroque character is a haven for architecture lovers, who will also be able to spot elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern design throughout the city. Additionally, it’s myriad of museums – everything from Fine Art and culture to the popular Palace Armoury – provide plenty of scope for exploration and enjoyable hours spent uncovering the secrets of this unique city.

And after all that, you can immerse yourself in its more modern delights – quality shopping streets, delightful cafes and excellent restaurants, all the perfect end to a wonderful day spent exploring historic Valletta.
